More than one million satisfied customers of its debut album, Inside In/Inside Out, seven UK Top 40 singles; sellout tours; an opening slot for a Rolling Stones concert; industry awards and Lily Allen covering the band's "Naive" - 2006-2007 was a nice time to be the Brighton indie pop band The Kooks. History hasn't been kind to sophomore releases but The Kooks hunkered down and came up with Konk, a hair-raising set that defies superstition and careens like a nitro-fueled hummingbird. Luke Pritchard is in fine vocal form on handclap-friendly "Always Where I Need To Be" and "Do You Wanna". Acoustic guitars on "Mr. Maker" and "Love It All" reflect a subtle California influence (fitting, as Konk was recorded in Los Angeles, California, with producer Tony Hoffer) while "Stormy Weather" and "Down to the Market" invite the most ardent non-dancer to throw down on the floor.
Pre-order Konk, and you'll get the pre-order-only bonus track "Vicious" plus the iTunes-exclusive track "Bad Taste In My Mouth" when the album is released April 15.
